Overview
Atelier Nord designs in black, white, and the grays between. Their portrait series strips everything away — one seamless backdrop, one light, one sitter at a time — and asks the garments to earn their place.
The challenge
Ninety-two portraits that must feel like one body of work across four sitters, three days, and constantly drifting daylight. We blacked out the studio and committed to a single artificial source for the entire series.
Approach
A fixed camera position marked on the floor, a fixed lens, and sittings capped at twenty minutes to keep every face fresh. Film portraits were captured between stills frames so motion and print share identical light.
Outcome
The series became Atelier Nord’s permanent about-page and wholesale deck, and two portraits were acquired by a photography annual.
- Sitter portrait films
- 92 monochrome portraits
- Wholesale and press kit
- Gallery print set
“Ninety-two frames, one light, zero excuses. The discipline is visible.”
